The  Isiala Ngwa South Youth Empowerment Scheme (I-YES) solar/inverter installation training programme has been flagged off in the Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area Council, Umuoba, Abia State.

The programme featured the who is who in Isiala Ngwa South L.G.A. The flag off ceremony attracted the presence of the TC Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Hon Ike Anyatonwu, Deputy TC Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government, Hon Rowland Ceasar, SA to the chairman on Social Investment, Hon Darlington Ahuruonye, former Special Adviser to the Governor on General Intelligence, Hon Asagwara Peter a former Leader of Isiala Ngwa South Legislative Council, Hon. Ndubuisi Ukah Vincent Ndubuisi, a business mogul, Chief Okey Stanford Nwagbara, Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council president Abia State chapter among other personalities.

Below is the report of the event by the Chairman’s Special Assistant: Speaking at the flag off ceremony held at Ururuka Hall Council Headquarters, Omoba, Comrade Anyatonwu noted that the I-YES program where the youths will be trained on Solar and Inverter Installation and maintenance is aimed at engaging the youths in meaningful ventures and making them self reliant.

He charged the benefiting youths to take the training seriously explaining that the solar system will soon be the major alternative source of power supply in Nigeria while describing the company handling the training, Wavetra Energy Ltd as a reputable energy Company adding that the I-YES is a life changing program.

The Isiala Ngwa South Council boss revealed that he has almost concluded plans with the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to install solar powered street lights from Umuikaa junction to Omoba which will be done by Isiala Ngwa South youths who have been trained under the scheme.

Contributing, the Chief Executive Officer of Wavetra Energy Ltd, Mr. Peter Ojike stressed that the idea for the training is to lift the youths out of poverty by empowering them with skills explaining that there will be both theoretical and practical sessions during the training and thanked the Isiala Ngwa South Council Chairman and his team for keying into the program noting that Isiala Ngwa South LGA is at the forefront of youth development.

Earlier in his address, the Special Assistant to the Chairman on Social Investment, Comrade Ahuruonye Darlington Nnaemeka described the Solar energy as the alternative source of power supply which will take over the country’s power system in few years to come adding that the I-YES program was conceived and designed to presently focus on training the youths on Solar & Inverter installation and maintenance.

Comrade Ahuruonye maintained that the Social Investment office will not rest on its oars in driving a social-economic advocacy framework by partnering critical team players to take Isiala Ngwa South to an enviable height of economic prosperity.

He listed some of the gains of the I-YES program to include, creating wealth among the youths, guaranteeing sustainable income to the target group, helping the youths achieve the financial inclusion strategy of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu led administration, integrating the youths into the economic diversification policy of the federal government of Nigeria, among others.

The flag off ceremony attracted the presence of the Deputy Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government, Hon Rowland Caesar, former Special Adviser to the Governor on General Intelligence, Hon Asagwara Peter, a former Leader of Isiala Ngwa South Legislative Council, Hon. Ukah Vincent Ndubuisi, a business mogul, Chief Okey Stanford Nwagbara among other personalities.
